According to the multi-states enforcement customers complained that DISH Network disclaimer responsibility for the conduct ofits third-party retailers and installers; advertisex rebates without disclosing limitations on rebate represented that equipment was new when, in it was used or refurbished; and electronically debited bank accounts and credit cards without theitr authorization. The agreement specifies that DISH Network denies any DISH Network, the nation’s No. 2 provider of direcg broadcast satellite television agreed to numerous corrective actions to remedy the conduct investigated bythe states.
Foremost amonvg these, the company’s advertising must clearly outline the following to itsprospective customers: • Whether penalties apply – and if so, the penaltyy amount – in the event a customer cancels • All fees and cost of service, including additional chargesx if the customer requests more than one satellitr receiver; • All limitations on available customer rebates. In addition, DISH Networkl must provide customers with a copy of the servics contract before its satellite is It must also providea toll-free customer servicr number for customers who have questions.
The agreemen will make it easier for customers to understandDISH Network’s billinf cycle – including when late fees apply – and bill paymentr options, as well as the fees that customerws will be assessed for failing to timelty return equipment. DISH Network also has to ensure thatits third-party retailers and installers abide by the terme of the agreement.
