Children's Museum to unveil major expansion - Houston Business Journal:

The downtown museum, at 1500 Binz, has raisede about $20 million in its capital campaignso far. It intends to reacjh out to the business community to help raise 10 percengt ofthe goal, or $3.5 million, to suppor its new science, technology, engineering and or STEM, exhibits. The museum will unvei the expansion plans atan Oct. 17 pressx conference. Among the new STEM exhibits is created in partnershipwith , and developecd in part with funding from the National Instituteas of Health. The exhibit will be housef in a four-story structure, engaginhg young visitors in their own personal biosciencde research project about how their bodiesw respond tophysical challenges.
Another STEM Invention Convention, developed in cooperation betweennthe M.I. T. Media Lab and the , amonf others, will allow visitors to create inventions and share them with Other new exhibits in the expandexd museum willinclude Kidtropolis, a child-size city, an outdoor Water Power exhibit and an expandedr Tot Spot exhibit for toddlers up to age 3. It'z expected that more than 650,00o children and families will visit the museum and STEM exhibits in the firsg year after the The Children's Museum of Houston is rankes as the country's No. 2 children'ds museum by Child magazine.
