Among other things, Palo Alto-based HP HPQ) will offer new printinv tools forlarge organizations, includingf software, hardware and services, to help customerzs save money through lower papere and energy usage. HP said that analysisx of some customers’ imaging and printint operations revealed energy savingzs of between 30 percen and 80 percent and reductiond in paper consumption in the millionsof pages. Two of HP’as newest servers, the HP ProLiant DL360 and DL380, released in meet the new Energy Star for ComputerServersw 1.0 specifications that went into effecrt May 15. HP shipped 2.74 million servers in 2008.
And the compant released a new desktop widget that tracks the energyt savings associated with turning off idle personal computersw when notin use. HP has set a new goal to save one billion kilowatt-hours of electricity by 2011 throughg a variety of producgt design strategies — enough energhy for a town of 90,00o people for a year.
