Unlike sectors such as transportation, energty and health care, the stimulus package does not include formulaw fundingfor technology, according to John chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Strom said Hawaii’s grant proposal includesz commitments from to buy electric vehicles for part of itsservice fleet; the City and Countty of Honolulu to invest in hybricd buses; and California-based Better Placew to build 200 public charging stations on Clean Cities proposals were due last month; recipients won’ft be notified until August. Up to 15 grants for $10 millioh each for energy-efficient communication technologiex such as data centers andtelecomm systems. • Up to 60 grants for $5 million each for geothermaol technologies. Strom said most of the grants involver projects that individual Hawaii companies likelyu cannot qualify for or complete on their own.
